Awards Policy:
Any VFP full or associate member, in good standing, or
nonmember as identified under the award classifications may be eligible for
recognition.
All nominees must have demonstrated exceptional service in
the pursuit of peace and justice on three levels: local, national and
international. That service may include, but not limited to any one or a
combination of the following: organization, development or participation in a
activity which affirm the principles of Veterans for Peace.
Local Award: recipient must be a full member in good
standing of VFP at the time of his/her work and the time of presentation.
National Award: recipient must be a full or associate member
in good standing of VFP at the time of his/her work and the time of
presentation.
International Award: recipient may be a full or associate
member in good standing of VFP at the time of the work and the time of the
award. The recipient may also be a nonmember who also meets the requirements of
this honor.
Any full member, in good standing may make nominations to
the awards committee. The nomination may be made anytime throughout the year in
writing to the chair of the nomination committee. The nomination must name the
individual or group, level of award (local, national or international), VFP and
veteran status and justification for the honor.
Other supporting documentation such as photos, letters, news
clippings and such, may accompany the nomination but are not required.
The award(s) may be: certificates, medals, plaques or pins.
There shall be no hierarchy of the type of award as they shall enjoy equal
status. Those approved for recognition shall be contacted to request their
award preference.
The desire of the recipient in reference to the award presentation shall be complied with. The award may be sent directly to the recipient. The award may be sent to a host who shall present the award to the recipient at a local function. The award may be presented at the annual meeting of VFP by the chair of the awards committee, the chair of the annual meeting or the VFP Board President as requested by the recipient.
