2016 VFP National Convention

PEACE AT HOME, PEACE ABROAD
A Just and Sustainable Future for the World's Children

It is the intent of Veterans For Peace to be inclusive and to create an environment that does not discriminate based on race, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation or disability. However, we live in a world that teaches us to act in bias ways and we must actively work to dismantle these oppressive systems as well as put forth effort to examine how each of us contributes to the oppression of others.

In an effort to be more inclusive and welcoming to all members of Veterans For Peace, I am asking members to let me know if there is a community caucus or meeting space you would like to have for the convention. Right now we are making space for a women’s and Post-Cold War caucus. If others spaces are needed such as People of Color, LGBTQ or Hispanic meeting rooms, please let me know you would like to have that space and we will it. Individuals members, please feel free to reach out and let me know you would like to have this space.

I am also working to make sure we have space at the convention for a general open discussion about inclusion in VFP. Change is hard and it begins with each of us. We must talk and listen to each other to build a real and just peace within our community as veterans. Let’s begin that conversation.
