ANSWERS
How do I register?
Members of VFP can
register here.
Registration is not yet available for IVAW or MFSO.
How much does the
convention cost?
The convention costs $200. However, if
you register after June 1, the price goes up to $225 and after July 1 it goes up
to $250. IVAW and MFSO prices are TBA.
The does the convention price include any food?
The only food that is included is the Saturday night banquet. Food packages were
simply too expensive to make it worth the cost. There is campus like food
available throughout the campus. We'll have more info as the convention gets
closer.
How do
we propose resolutions?
You and/or your chapter can
propose resolutions here. The deadline is July 8, 2009.
What
are the workshops?
The workshops are still being submitted. Learn more
here.
Can my
chapter (or another organization I work with) have a table at the convention?
Of course! Prices vary depending on if you are a VFP chapter, ally
organization, or a vendor. Learn more about
reserving a table.
Where
is the convention being held?
At the University of Maryland College Park Campus in Maryland. The convention
will be held at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union. Learn more about the campus here.
Where
am I supposed to sleep?
Convention attendees are encouraged to stay in housing on campus. Prices are
low and within a half mile walk of the Adele Stamp Student Union. Learn more
about the
housing options here?
Are special accommodations being made for
accessibility?
Absolutely! The Adele Stamp Student Union is a four floor complex that has
several sets of elevators. There are a limited number of accessible rooms on
campus, so please make any requests for these to Betsy at 314-725-6005.
Can I stay at a nearby hotel or campground?
People can stay wherever they feel comfortable. View a list of hotels and campgrounds nearby.
Are my spouse/partner and I supposed to sleep
in separate rooms?
Technically, yes. The University of Maryland is organizing housing and they do
not set up males and females to share suites due to safety and security
reasons. However, we are working on arrangements that allow for couples to be
able to stay together. If you would like to learn more, please email Betsy at
betsy@veteransforpeace.net or call 314-725-6005.
What
else is there to do in College Park, Maryland?
There is a lot to do around the Washington D.C. area. You can see the University of Maryland's Convention Services website here.
Who is speaking/performing at the convention?

Phyllis Bennis, Institute for Policy Studies (IPS)
Bill Fletcher, Jr.,

Raed Jarrar, American Friends Service
Committee (AFSC)
